That's what Internet Week is about. It's a celebration of everything Internet-y, and that could mean you. It could mean your company. It could mean your website. If you want it to.
The world is the way it is today because some very smart people — Vinton Cerf, Robert Kahn, Tim Berners-Lee (to name just a few), understood that an open system of networked computers was better than a closed one. We like to call this "open beats closed". Others have called it the Wisdom of Crowds, 1 + 1 = 3, and Crowd sourcing. We like calling it those names too.
We want Internet Week New York to be like the Internet — open to everyone. Whether you're an artist, an investment bank, a startup, or a meetup, your event - seminars, online promotions, parties, concerts — can be an official part of Internet Week. Just sign up.
But just like the Internet, Internet Week will only be as good as the sum of its parts. We hope you'll make it great.
We are here to provide the Internet Week version of tech support. Do you need help finding a venue? Would you like to partner with someone? Can we make an introduction? Send us a note. We are here to help.
One thing we probably can't do is fix your computer. We have had moderate success in fixing ours by unplugging it and then plugging it back in, but your mileage may vary.
Open Beats Closed.
